West Liberty, W.Va. - Senior running back
Hunter Patterson is this week's Hilltopper of the Week following another outstanding performance in West Liberty's 28-24 victory over Seton Hill at West Family Stadium.
Patterson carried the Hilltoppers' offense throughout the victory, rushing 30 times for 219 yards and two touchdowns while adding two receptions for 46 yards and another touchdown. His 265 total yards accounted for nearly half of West Liberty's offensive production.
Patterson opened the scoring with a 33-yard touchdown reception from
Kohl Meisman before adding rushing touchdowns of 3 and 63 yards. His 63-yard touchdown run came late in the second quarter and helped send the Hilltoppers into halftime with a 21-10 lead.
His 219 rushing yards also pushed Patterson over the 2,000-yard mark for his career. He now has 2,147 career rushing yards.
Patterson has been a dominant force on the ground through two games, totaling 361 rushing yards while averaging more than 8 yards per carry. He has also added 153 receiving yards, giving him 514 total yards through the opening two games.
The senior from Chester, W.Va., and Oak Glen High School has helped West Liberty open the season 1-1 and will look to continue his strong start when the Hilltoppers travel to Post University next Saturday.
