BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Liberty University senior running back Hunter Patterson has been named the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, following another outstanding performance for the Hilltoppers.

Patterson rushed for 191 yards and four touchdowns on 26 carries in West Liberty's 35-14 victory over Post on Saturday. He added a 7-yard touchdown reception from Kohl Meisman to finish the afternoon with five total touchdowns.

The Chester, W.Va., native accounted for 198 yards of total offense and scored all five of his touchdowns during a dominant performance that helped West Liberty improve to 2-1 on the season.

Patterson's four rushing touchdowns came on runs of 5, 24, 44 and 10 yards. His 44-yard touchdown run came during a second-quarter stretch in which the Hilltoppers scored 21 points and extended their lead to 28-0 by halftime.
The senior currently leads the Mountain East Conference in rushing yards per game (184.0), scoring (20.0 points per game) and all-purpose yards per game (237.3).

Through three games, Patterson has rushed 70 times for 552 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 7.9 yards per carry. He has also caught 13 passes for 160 yards and three touchdowns. His 712 all-purpose yards lead the Hilltoppers and rank him at 237.3 yards per game.

Patterson has scored 10 touchdowns through three games and has accounted for 60 of West Liberty's 90 points this season.

Saturday's performance marked Patterson's third career MEC Offensive Player of the Week selection. He earned the honor twice during the 2025 season, first as a co-recipient following his 247-yard, three-touchdown performance at West Virginia Wesleyan and again following a record-setting regular-season finale against Wheeling.

Patterson went on to earn 2025 MEC Offensive Player of the Year honors after leading the conference with 1,219 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns while adding 418 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns.

His latest honor comes as West Liberty prepares to open Mountain East Conference play next Saturday when the Hilltoppers host Frostburg State on Hall of Fame Day at West Family Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
