CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Liberty women's golf team wrapped up competition Thursday at the UC Invitational at Edgewood Country Club after the scheduled third round was canceled.

Hosted by the University of Charleston, the tournament was originally scheduled as a two-day, three-round event. West Liberty completed two rounds before the final round was canceled.

The Hilltoppers entered the tournament following a 14th-place finish at the Vulcan Invitational at Cedarbrook Golf Course in Belle Vernon, Pa.

Samantha Spearman led West Liberty at the Vulcan Invitational, finishing tied for 58th at 39-over par after rounds of 25-over and 14-over.

West Liberty competed against a strong field at Edgewood Country Club that included host Charleston along with Concord, Fairmont State, Glenville State, Barton, Mount Olive, UVA Wise, Davis & Elkins, Gannon and Malone. A second Charleston entry also competed in the tournament.

The Hilltoppers will return to action September 21 in the WCU Battlefield Classic hosted by West Chester University at the The Links at Gettysburg.
