4/10/2026 12:00:00 PM

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University baseball team returns to Kovalick Field this weekend for a pivotal four-game Mountain East Conference series against Point Park.

First pitch is set for Saturday at 1 p.m., followed by a 4 p.m. game, with the series concluding Sunday with another doubleheader.

West Liberty enters the weekend at 10-17 overall and an even 8-8 in MEC play, positioning itself squarely in the middle of the North Division standings. The Hilltoppers have been strong at home this season, posting a 6-2 record at Kovalick Field.

The Hilltoppers are coming off a split at Indiana (Pa.), capped by a 10-8 win in game two, and will look to carry that offensive momentum into the weekend.

Hunter White continues to lead the charge at the plate, hitting a team-best .419 with six home runs, 26 RBIs, and a .699 slugging percentage. He has also tallied 39 hits and 65 total bases, anchoring the middle of the lineup.

West Liberty has received steady production throughout the order, including Giacomo Dolce (.282, 29 hits), Luke Foley (.278, 19 runs), and Austin Wittreich (25 hits, 17 RBIs), giving the Hilltoppers balance offensively.

The Hilltoppers will rely on John Thompson, who leads the staff with a 4.11 ERA, four wins, and 34 strikeouts across 46.0 innings.

Support from Colby Conn and Mason Bille will be key as West Liberty looks to slow down one of the top offenses in the conference.

Point Park enters the weekend at 20-10 overall and 11-5 in MEC play, sitting third in the North Division and riding a four-game winning streak.

The Pioneers boast one of the most explosive lineups in the league, led by Olindo Pezzone (.356, 11 home runs, 33 RBIs) and Blake Ewing (11 home runs, .702 slugging percentage). As a team, Point Park combines power with speed, highlighted by Chris Williams' 15 stolen bases.

On the mound, Ramon Rodriguez (2.41 ERA) and Camden Dimidjian (3.86 ERA) headline a pitching staff that has limited opponents to low batting averages throughout the season.
