West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University baseball team was recognized for its success in the classroom by earning the 2025-26 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack.

The Hilltoppers received the national honor after posting a cumulative team GPA of 3.06 during the 2025-26 academic year, joining more than 800 high school and collegiate baseball programs recognized by the ABCA for academic achievement. West Liberty's academic success was highlighted by seven student-athletes earning a perfect 4.0 GPA during the academic year, while 12 players finished with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award honors high school and collegiate baseball programs that maintain a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale during the academic year. Programs must also have a head coach who is a current member of the American Baseball Coaches Association to be eligible for the award.

This year's recipients included nearly 500 collegiate programs and more than 320 high school programs, highlighting the continued emphasis on academic success throughout the sport. The American Baseball Coaches Association has recognized the accomplishments of baseball coaches and student-athletes for decades through a variety of academic and athletic honors, with the Team Academic Excellence Award celebrating programs that excel both in classroom and on the field.
