Hilltoppers Head to Ohio Dominican for Midweek Matchup

West Liberty, W.Va. - The West Liberty University baseball team returns to action Tuesday afternoon as the Hilltoppers travel to Ohio Dominican for a non-conference matchup at Frank Damian Field at Panther Valley in Columbus, Ohio. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.

West Liberty enters the midweek contest looking to carry momentum from its most recent series at Malone, where the Hilltoppers earned their first win of the season in a 12-2 victory while showing signs of offensive progress throughout the four-game set.

Hilltoppers Showing Offensive Improvement

West Liberty is hitting .268 as a team through its first eight games, collecting 67 hits and 38 RBIs.

Several Hilltoppers have been key contributors early in the season:

  • Hunter White leads the team with a .357 batting average, adding a home run and four RBIs.
     

  • Luke Marsh is hitting .350 with five RBIs.
     

  • Aaron Flowers owns a .348 average with three doubles and six walks, posting a .483 on-base percentage.
     

  • Giacomo Dolce leads the team with eight RBIs.
     

West Liberty's lineup also received a spark from Evan Tice, who is batting .643 in limited action with nine hits in 14 at-bats.

The Hilltoppers showed their offensive potential in their win over Malone, scoring 12 runs on 15 hits.

Ohio Dominican comes into the matchup after most recently facing Indiana (Pa.), continuing a challenging early-season schedule.

The Panthers are hitting .250 as a team with 67 hits and 50 RBIs through their first nine games.

Steven Chapman leads the offense with a .379 batting average, three home runs and 11 RBIs.
Tryce Chaffin is batting .310, while Sam Battles has produced a .389 average in limited action.
Gavin Lawler has also been productive, hitting .500 with a home run and six RBIs.

Ohio Dominican's pitching staff has struck out 61 batters in 67 innings, posting a 9.81 team ERA.

First pitch between West Liberty and Ohio Dominican is set for 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in Columbus, Ohio.
