WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's and women's track & field teams return home this weekend to host the annual Tim Weaver Invitational, set for Friday and Saturday at the WLU Track Complex.
The two-day meet will feature a full slate of multi-events, distance races, sprints, and field competitions, bringing together a competitive regional field for the Hilltoppers' only home event of the season.
West Liberty enters the weekend coming off an impressive showing at the Marty Pushkin Invitational at West Virginia University, where the Hilltoppers turned in multiple event wins and a host of top-eight finishes.
Freshman Tristin Ohler highlighted the meet with a personal-best 10.59 to win the men's 100 meters, while Ky'Ara Ross claimed the women's 100-meter title in 12.39. The duo leads a deep sprint group that will look to continue its success on the home track.
Ross also added a runner-up finish in the 200 meters, while Brookelyn Reynolds captured the 400-meter title and contributed to a strong overall showing in the event.
In the distance events, Joshua Gill posted a personal-best runner-up finish in the 5,000 meters, while the Hilltoppers saw multiple scorers across middle-distance races.
West Liberty's strength extended into the field events, where the Hilltoppers produced several podium finishes.
Khalon Simmons led the jumps group with a second-place finish in the triple jump, while the long jump unit featured three top-seven finishers.
In the throws, Owen Draughn and Mason Fraley paced the men's squad with second- and third-place finishes in the discus, while the women's group saw consistent scoring across the hammer, shot put, and discus events.
Action begins Friday afternoon with multi-events and throws, including the women's heptathlon and men's decathlon, along with the hammer and javelin competitions. The evening will feature distance races, highlighted by the elite 1500 meters and 10,000 meters.
Saturday's competition begins in the morning with field events and concludes with a full running schedule, including hurdle finals, sprint finals, and relays. Senior recognition will take place prior to the start of track events.
