WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University acrobatics & tumbling team returns home to the ASRC on Sunday afternoon, hosting Glenville State University for a Mountain East Conference meet at 3 p.m. on Senior Day.
The Hilltoppers enter the weekend with a 3-6 overall record and a 2-3 mark in MEC competition, coming off an impressive road victory over Bluefield State.
West Liberty is riding a wave of confidence following a dominant 219.545–168.595 win against Bluefield State in its most recent outing. The Hilltoppers controlled the meet from start to finish, showcasing strength across all six events.
The team set the tone in the compulsory event with a 33.00 and continued to separate in the pyramid (26.35) and toss (22.20) events. West Liberty also delivered a strong tumbling performance (43.775) before closing with a 72.37 in the team event.
The performance marked one of the team's most complete meets of the season and provided a boost heading into the final home competition of the regular season.
Glenville State University enters as a familiar conference opponent, with a history of tightly contested meets between the two programs.
West Liberty has won five of the last eight matchups in the series, including several narrow victories. However, Glenville State claimed last year's meeting in West Liberty, 244.560–232.960, and edged the Hilltoppers again in 2024 in one of the closest meets in program history.
With both teams familiar with each other's strengths, execution in key events such as pyramid, toss, and the team routine will likely determine the outcome.
Sunday's meet will also serve as Senior Day, as West Liberty honors its senior class for their contributions to the program.
With the Mountain East Conference Championships approaching in April, Sunday's meet provides an important opportunity for West Liberty to continue refining routines and building momentum.
