Fairmont, W.Va. - The West Liberty Hilltoppers acrobatics & tumbling opened the 2026 season Friday afternoon at a National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association tri-meet, finishing with a team score of 222.29 against Fairmont State Falcons acrobatics & tumbling and West Virginia State Yellow Jackets acrobatics & tumbling.
Compulsory Event
West Liberty opened the meet with a solid showing in the compulsory event, totaling 33.55 points. The Hilltoppers were sharp in the pyramid heat (9.35) and delivered clean execution in the toss heat (8.75). West Liberty also posted an 8.35 in the acro heat before closing the section with a 7.10 in tumbling to remain competitive early in the meet.
Acro Event
The Hilltoppers followed with 20.2 points in the acro event, highlighted by their strongest performance in the five-element heat, where they scored 8.65. West Liberty continued to show improvement through the six- and seven-element heats, maintaining composure and consistency as the start values increased.
Pyramid Event
West Liberty delivered one of its strongest sections of the meet in the pyramid event, posting a total of 26.9 points. The Hilltoppers opened with an 8.05 in the inversion heat, followed by a strong 9.10 in the synchronized heat. They capped the event with a 9.75 in the open pyramid, showcasing clean transitions and strong control at the top positions.
Toss Event
In the toss event, West Liberty totaled 23.3 points, highlighted by an 8.15 in the 450 salto heat. The Hilltoppers followed with a 7.05 in the synchronized toss and closed the event with an 8.10 in the open toss, continuing to build momentum through the middle portion of the meet.
Tumbling Event
The tumbling event proved to be a key strength for the Hilltoppers, as they recorded 41.6 points across six heats. West Liberty posted solid scores in the aerial (7.98), six-element (8.45), and open pass (7.88), demonstrating depth and consistency across multiple pass types.
Team Event
West Liberty closed the meet with a composed performance in the team event, earning 76.74 points. The routine reflected endurance and synchronization, bringing together elements from each discipline to finish the competition on a strong note.
Fairmont State captured the tri-meet with a score of 260.475, while West Virginia State finished with 86.05.
