WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The West Liberty Hilltoppers return to the ASRC on Thursday night to host No. 14 Tiffin Dragons in a dual set for 6:00 p.m. West Liberty will also celebrate Senior Night, honoring Skyelar Smith and Jillian Timberlake prior to the opening whistle.
The matchup marks just the second all-time meeting between the two programs. Tiffin claimed the first meeting last season with a 40–7 victory on Feb. 8 in Tiffin, while the Hilltoppers will look to even the series.
West Liberty enters the contest with a 16-6 overall record and has been dominant against Mountain East Conference competition this season, posting a 3-0 mark in duals against league opponents, including wins over Point Park and Frostburg State. The Hilltoppers have also been unbeatable at home, owning a 5-0 all-time record in duals contested at the ASRC.
The Black & Gold feature three nationally ranked wrestlers, led by Chiara Barbieri (103), who is ranked No. 17, Cassia Zammit (131) at No. 11, and Makyah Walters-Newlun (160), who sits No. 17 in the national rankings.
Tiffin brings a 10-8 record into Thursday's dual and features a pair of nationally ranked standouts, including Annesley Day (124), ranked No. 12, and Savannah Isaac (207), the top-ranked wrestler in the nation at her weight. The Dragons represent the fifth nationally ranked opponent West Liberty has faced in a dual this season, as the Hilltoppers continue to test themselves against elite competition.
