WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's wrestling program continues to reach new heights on the national stage as Cassia Zammit and Mariah Mills each earned All-American honors at the U.S. World Team Trials this weekend.

Competing against many of the top wrestlers in the country—and world—Zammit secured All-American status in the U23 division, while Mills achieved the same distinction in the U20 division, marking another historic milestone for the Hilltoppers.

The World Team Trials represent one of the highest levels of competition in wrestling, featuring elite athletes vying for a chance to represent the United States at this summer's World Championships. For West Liberty to produce two All-Americans at the event underscores the rapid rise of the program on a national scale.

Zammit's performance was particularly noteworthy. In addition to earning All-American honors, she defeated a two-time World Team member and capped her tournament by pinning the 2026 NCAA national runner-up in the seventh-place match—further solidifying her place among the sport's elite competitors.

The weekend success builds on Zammit's already historic season, as she became West Liberty's first NCAA Women's Wrestling All-American earlier this year.

Head coach Troy Bell emphasized the significance of the achievement for the program.

"Fresh off of a historic showing at the inaugural NCAA Women's Championship where Cassia Zammit became West Liberty's first NCAA All-American, the theme of firsts continued at this weekend's World Team Trials," Bell said. "Cassia became West Liberty's first U23 World Team Trials All-American while Mariah Mills did it in the U20 division."

Bell noted that the accomplishment reflects the culture and vision within the program.

"This historic year for our program is proof that all things can be accomplished when like-minded individuals share the same vision," Bell said. "Having two World Team Trials All-Americans in the same year gives us the ability to take the next step toward making world teams."

Mills also reflected on the significance of the moment, especially after falling just short of All-American status at the NCAA Championships.

"This weekend has made me proud to be a Hilltopper," Mills said. "After falling short of All-American honors at NCAA Nationals, earning it this weekend at the U20 World Team Trials proved that the work I'm putting in is paying off. I'm so grateful and honored to be a part of the history of this program."

For Zammit, the performance provided both validation and motivation moving forward.

"Seeing results show up at the highest level of competition is fueling," Zammit said. "It's a great confidence boost for the team and shows we have something special here at West Liberty. Our program produces high-level athletes by building a culture of everyday success."

With two World Team Trials All-Americans in the same weekend, West Liberty continues to establish itself as an emerging force in women's wrestling—one that is not only competing nationally, but making an impact on the international stage.
