KUTZTOWN, Pa. — The West Liberty University acrobatics & tumbling team turned in a competitive performance Friday evening at a Mountain East Conference tri-meet hosted by Kutztown, finishing third behind Frostburg State and the host Golden Bears.
West Liberty posted a team score of 208.040, while Frostburg State claimed the meet with a 232.325 and Kutztown finished second at 221.190.
The Hilltoppers opened the meet with a total of 32.25 points in the Compulsory event.
West Liberty's top score in the opening round came in the Pyramid Heat, where the team posted a 9.50. The Hilltoppers added an 8.05 in Toss, 7.80 in Acro and 6.90 in Tumbling to close the first event.
In the Acro event, West Liberty totaled 22.50 points. The 6-Element Heat led the way with a 7.95, followed by a 7.85 in the 5-Element Heat.
Pyramid proved to be one of the Hilltoppers' strongest events of the night, as they scored 25.25 points overall. West Liberty delivered a 8.90 in the Open Heat and an 8.50 in the Inversion Heat to remain within striking distance heading into halftime.
At the break, West Liberty stood at 80.00 points, trailing Frostburg State (89.55) and Kutztown (86.50).
The Hilltoppers scored 21.85 points in Toss, highlighted by a 7.45 in the 450 Salto Heat.
Tumbling produced a total of 42.950 points, with the team's highest marks coming in:

West Liberty capped the evening with a 63.24 in the Team Event to finish with a final score of 208.040.
