WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The West Liberty University acrobatics & tumbling team delivered one of its strongest performances of the season Sunday evening, defeating Wheeling University, 226.355–198.085, inside the ASRC.

With the win, West Liberty improves to 2-2, 2-1 on the season, using a dominant first half to build separation and closing strong in the Team Event to secure the 28-point victory in front of 526 fans.

Fast Start in Compulsory

The Hilltoppers set the tone early, posting a 33.40 in the Compulsory event compared to Wheeling's 26.35

 

West Liberty outscored the Cardinals in all four heats, highlighted by:

• Pyramid Heat: 9.850

• Toss Heat: 9.100

• Acro Heat: 8.650

The early 7.05-point edge gave WLU momentum heading into the optional events.

Acro and Pyramid Build the Lead

In the Acro event, West Liberty totaled 24.85 points, highlighted by a 9.150 in the 5-Element Heat and an 8.600 in the 6-Element Heat

The Hilltoppers continued their steady performance in Pyramid, posting a 27.00 overall. Their highest mark came in the Open Heat with a 9.700, one of the top scores of the night

At the halftime break, West Liberty held a commanding 85.25–71.85 advantage

 

Strong Closing Effort

West Liberty maintained control through the Toss and Tumbling events. In Toss, the Hilltoppers recorded a meet-best 8.100 in the Open Heat

Tumbling proved to be another bright spot, as WLU posted a 44.725 total. The squad turned in solid performances across the board, including:

• 8.675 in the 6-Element Pass

• 8.525 in the Open Pass

• 8.225 in the Aerial Pass
   

Holding a comfortable lead heading into the Team Event, West Liberty sealed the victory with a 74.48 score in the final heat compared to Wheeling's 60.810

Next up for the Hilltoppers they will compete in a tri-meet at Kutztown along with Frostburg State on Feb.27
