West Liberty To Compete At YSU Last Chance Invitational

2/12/2026 2:00:00 PM

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The West Liberty Hilltoppers indoor track and field return to competition Friday at the YSU Last Chance Invitational, hosted at the Watson and Tressel Training Site. The meet serves as the final tune-up for the Hilltoppers ahead of the Mountain East Conference Indoor Championships on February 22–23.

West Liberty enters the weekend riding momentum after a historic showing at last Saturday's Jud Logan Light Giver Invitational at Ashland, where the women's squad established two school records against a deep, competitive field.

Junior Brookelyn Reynolds headlined the performance by setting a new school record in the 400-meter dash, finishing seventh in the elite division with a time of 58.56 seconds. Reynolds later anchored the 4x400-meter relay, teaming with Hannah Rowan, Sasha Hunter, and Sierra Lanham to post another school record at 4:01.39, good for ninth place overall.

The Hilltoppers also saw standout efforts in the field and hurdles. Sierra Davis placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 11.37 meters, while Marissa Scott finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.14.

On the men's side, Ethan Furbee turned in a strong performance in the long jump, finishing eighth with a leap of 6.36 meters.

Friday's meet provides a key opportunity for West Liberty athletes to sharpen execution, chase qualifying marks, and build confidence heading into the MEC Championship.
