Hilltoppers Take Non-Conference Test at Seton Hill Saturday

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — West Liberty returns to non-conference action Saturday when the Hilltoppers travel to Seton Hill for a noon match at Dick's Sporting Goods Field in Greensburg, Pa.

West Liberty enters the weekend at 5-4 overall and 3-4 in Mountain East Conference play after closing out the month of September with a 3-0 victory at Salem on Wednesday.

The Hilltoppers have been perfect in their two non-conference matches this season, opening the year with a 3-2 victory at Daemen before posting a 2-0 shutout at Chestnut Hill. West Liberty has scored three goals in each of its last two matches.

Seton Hill comes into Saturday's matchup at 4-4-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play. The Griffins also enter on a winning note after defeating Pitt-Johnstown, 1-0, Wednesday.

West Liberty has received consistent offensive production from sophomore Leyton Collier, who enters the weekend among the MEC's statistical leaders.

Collier leads the conference with 24 shots and ranks second with 14 shots on goal. He has scored three goals and added two assists for a team-high eight points through eight matches. His 3.00 shots per game also lead the MEC.

Brian Russell has added two goals for the Hilltoppers, while Jasper Newton has contributed a goal and an assist. Zachary Jordan, Omar Cortez, Alec Aceves, Martin Medancic and Brody Wall have also found the net this season.

As a team, West Liberty has scored 13 goals on 111 shots, averaging 1.44 goals per game. The Hilltoppers have put 54 shots on goal and are converting 48.6 percent of their shots on target.

The Hilltoppers have also been strong defensively, allowing just 12 goals through nine matches. Junior goalkeeper Shai'ya Fitzgerald has started all nine matches, posting a 1.25 goals-against average and a .788 save percentage with 41 saves and one shutout.

Seton Hill has scored 16 goals in 10 matches, averaging 1.60 goals per game, while allowing 15 goals. The Griffins have recorded 122 shots, including 59 shots on goal.

Senior Rafael Santos leads the Seton Hill attack with four goals and seven assists for a team-high 15 points. He has also registered a team-best 26 shots and 15 shots on goal.

James Aubrey has added three goals, while Ben Conti and Tomas Gomes have two goals apiece. Seton Hill has received goals from seven different players this season.

Goalkeeper Jannik Reiss has started nine matches for the Griffins and enters Saturday with a 1.19 goals-against average, a .796 save percentage, 39 saves and three shutouts.

Saturday's match continues a busy stretch for the Hilltoppers, who have played four of their first five matches away from home. West Liberty is 4-2 on the road this season and has scored nine goals while allowing seven away from the West Family Athletic Complex.

The Hilltoppers will return home Wednesday to host Concord at the West Family Athletic Complex in a 5 p.m. MEC matchup.

Saturday's match is a rematch of last year's meeting, when Seton Hill defeated West Liberty, 2-0, in the 2025 home opener at the West Family Athletic Complex.
