WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The West Liberty University women's wrestling program will take another historic step forward this week as the Hilltoppers compete in the 2026 NWCA National Duals, hosted January 9–10 at the UNI-Dome on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa.
The prestigious national event brings together 16 of the nation's top programs and features six of the top eight finishers from last season's championship, including defending national champion Iowa and runner-up North Central. Iowa enters the tournament as the No. 1 overall seed, followed by McKendree, Grand Valley State, North Central, King, Presbyterian, Colorado Mesa, and Fort Hays State.
This year's field represents the highest level of collegiate women's wrestling, with perennial national powers and emerging programs from across the country. Alongside West Liberty, the competing teams include Iowa, McKendree, North Central, Grand Valley State, King, Presbyterian, Colorado Mesa, Fort Hays State, Lindenwood, Sacred Heart, William Jewell, Gannon, Emmanuel, Quincy, and the University of Sioux Falls.
For the Hilltoppers, the event marks the program's first-ever appearance at the NWCA National Duals, another milestone in the rapid growth of West Liberty women's wrestling since its inception in 2023.
"It is an exciting time in West Liberty women's wrestling as we continue to accomplish many firsts in our program," said head coach Troy Bell. "Being able to compete in our first NWCA National Duals highlights the consistent hard work from the entire team. It is an honor as their coach to share in their journey."

The NWCA National Duals will feature a two-day, bracket-style format, providing West Liberty an opportunity to measure itself against the nation's elite while gaining valuable postseason experience.
Competition begins Friday, January 9, and continues through Saturday, January 10, inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa, as the Hilltoppers look to continue building momentum and making history on the national stage.
