FAIRMONT, W.Va. — The West Liberty University men's wrestling team delivered an impressive performance Saturday at the Fairmont State Open, highlighted by Gabe Blissenbach's championship run at 174 pounds and several additional podium finishes across the lineup.
Blissenbach powered through the field to capture the 174-pound title, earning multiple bonus-point victories along the way and closing out the championship with a dominant technical fall. His performance anchored a strong day for the Hilltoppers against a competitive regional field.
West Liberty saw multiple placers at 125 pounds, as Caiden Harbert and Brady Donovan battled through the consolation bracket to finish fifth.
At 133 pounds, Treygen Morin advanced to the medal rounds and secured a fourth-place finish, showcasing consistent offensive production throughout the day.
The Hilltoppers continued their success at 141 pounds, where Matt Englehardt worked through the consolation bracket to earn a fifth-place finish, highlighted by a key pin.
In the upper weights, Tony Wood posted a strong showing at 149 pounds, finishing third with several bonus-point victories. Making his season debut, Jordan Watters impressed at 165 pounds, wrestling his way to a third-place finish. Levi Abbott rounded out West Liberty's placers with a fourth-place result at 184 pounds.
West Liberty will look to build on the momentum from the Fairmont State Open as the Hilltoppers compete in the NWCA national duals next weekend in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
