WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The West Liberty University women's tennis team was picked seventh in the 2026 Mountain East Conference Preseason Poll, as released by the league on Friday.
The poll, voted on by the MEC's seven head coaches, tabbed Charleston as the preseason favorite after the Golden Eagles collected six first-place votes. Fairmont State earned the remaining top vote, followed by West Virginia Wesleyan, West Virginia State, Davis & Elkins, and Frostburg State.
West Liberty enters the 2026 season looking to build momentum and continue developing depth across its lineup as conference play approaches. The Hilltoppers will face a competitive MEC field that includes several programs coming off postseason appearances.
Charleston, the defending MEC and NCAA Atlantic Region champion, finished the 2024-25 season with a 21-5 overall record and advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.
Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own teams in the preseason poll. The Hilltoppers open their season Feb.14 at Daemen.
