PENN TRAFFORD, Pa. — The West Liberty University women's tennis team battled hard but came up just short in a 4–3 setback to Seton Hill on Saturday morning at Penn Trafford High School, closing out their fall schedule on a competitive note.
The Hilltoppers picked up three wins in singles play, Maria Martirosyan earned a 7-6, 6–3 victory in the No.1 matchup. Sanchita Dabas also won in straight sets at the No.3 spot 7-5, 6-3. Kaylex Gibson added another point for West Liberty with a 6-1, 6–4 win at No. 5 singles.
Despite strong individual performances, Seton Hill took control early by sweeping the doubles point to start the match. The Griffins also claimed key wins at the No. 2 and No. 4 singles positions to secure the narrow 4–3 team victory.
West Liberty's lineup also featured solid efforts from Courtney Curnutte, Gabrielle Pasco, and Elle Monaco who all competed hard in tightly contested matches.
