1/29/2026 9:00:00 AM

West Liberty, W.Va. - The West Liberty University men's and women's track and field teams return to action this Friday at the YSU Mid Major Invitational, hosted by Youngstown State University at the Watson and Tressel Training Site.

The Hilltoppers head into the meet following a strong showing at last weekend's Ashland Invitational, where both squads recorded several notable performances against deep fields.

On the women's side, junior Ky'Ara Ross led the way with a victory in the long jump, posting a mark of 5.67 meters (18-7.25). Ross also demonstrated her versatility on the track, advancing to the finals of the 60-meter dash and finishing fifth overall with a time of 7.90 seconds. Freshman Lexi Wynn continued to establish herself in the distance events, earning a seventh-place finish in the 5,000-meter run, while junior Sierra Davis added an eighth-place result in the weight throw.

The men's team showcased its strength in the distance events at Ashland, highlighted by a third-place finish from senior Robert Allen in the 3,000-meter run. Senior Jasper Brown followed with a third-place showing in the 5,000 meters, while freshmen Finlay Lorimer and Shepherd Richey also placed inside the top eight, underscoring the program's depth.
