Watters Named MEC Co-Wrestler of the Week Presented by The Health Plan

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — West Liberty University's Jordan Watters has been named the Mountain East Conference Co-Wrestler of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, following an outstanding performance at 165 pounds during last Friday's tri-meet at Gannon.

Watters was a key contributor for the No. 23 Hilltoppers, going 2-0 on the day with a pin and a signature victory over a nationally ranked opponent.

In West Liberty's 36–12 win over East Stroudsburg, Watters delivered one of the dual's defining moments by securing a fall at 2:47, helping the Hilltoppers win eight of 10 bouts and cruise to the lopsided victory. West Liberty dominated the lower and middle weights in the matchup, posting four technical falls and a pin to build an insurmountable lead.

Watters followed that performance with a statement win in a tightly contested dual against No. 3/7 Gannon. Facing third-ranked Grant MacKay, Watters earned a dramatic 5–2 sudden-victory decision, handing MacKay just his second loss of the season and showcasing his poise against one of the nation's elite competitors.

West Liberty also received strong performances throughout the lineup against the Golden Knights, including a 5–1 decision by Logan Davis over No. 6 Logan Sallot at 125 pounds and a 15–0 technical fall from Nico Taddy at 157.

The Hilltoppers finished the day with a 1-1 record and now turn their attention to the Mountain East Conference Wrestling Championships, set for next Saturday at Glenville State.
