ASHLAND, Ohio – The West Liberty University men's and women's track and field teams will return to action Saturday, competing at the Ashland Invitational, hosted by Ashland University. Competition begins at 10 a.m. with field events and rolling track events throughout the day.
West Liberty heads to Ashland following a strong showing at Muskie Meet #1 last Saturday at Muskingum University, where the Hilltoppers turned in an impressive day highlighted by relay victories, individual wins, and three new school records.
West Liberty swept both 4,000-meter medley relays to open the meet. The women's squad captured first place in 13:21.36, while the men followed suit with a winning time of 10:33.40, with a Hilltopper "B" team also finishing close behind.
The Hilltoppers continued to shine in the relays as the women's 4x200-meter relay placed second while setting a new school record (1:47.33).
Individually, Ky'Ara Ross led the women's sprint group with a victory in the 60-meter dash (7.82) and a runner-up finish in the 200 meters, while Tristin Ohler paced the men with third-place finishes in both the 60 and 200 meters.
Distance events also proved to be a strength, as Lacey Dimit and Francis Toohey each set school records in the 1,000 meters, with multiple Hilltoppers finishing under previous program-best marks.
