WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The West Liberty University men's and women's track and field teams return to competition this Saturday at Muskingum University, competing in Muskie Meet #1 at the Muskingum–Bullock Health and Wellness Complex.
Saturday's meet will be the Hilltoppers' first competition since opening the 2025-26 indoor season in early December at the Youngstown State Icebreaker (Dec. 5) and the Mount Union Toy Drive Collegiate Opener (Dec. 6).
Strong Start at Youngstown State
West Liberty opened the indoor campaign with a series of impressive early-season performances at the Youngstown State Icebreaker, highlighted by a school record in the women's 4x400-meter relay.
The relay team of Sasha Hunter, Lacey Dimit, Hannah Rowan, and Brookelyn Reynolds posted a time of 4:07.45, placing eighth overall while setting a new program mark.
In the field events, Ky'Ara Ross delivered the Hilltoppers' top finish of the meet with a second-place effort in the women's long jump, soaring 5.87 meters. Ava Hoffman added a sixth-place finish in the high jump at 1.44 meters.
On the track, Lacey Dimit doubled back from the relay to place sixth in the women's mile with a time of 5:23.68.
The men also posted strong results, led by Isaah Beard, who finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 6.82 meters. In the high jump, Seth Wisman placed third in the unseeded section at 1.84 meters, while Ethan Furbee earned 10th in the seeded field at 1.89 meters.
Sophomore Tristin Ohler opened his season with a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters (21.96), while distance runners Francis Toohey and Zachary Workman placed third (8:49.32) and seventh (9:04.54), respectively, in the 3000 meters.
Solid Showing at Mount Union
The Hilltoppers followed with another productive outing at the Mount Union Toy Drive Collegiate Opener.
On the women's side, Haley Norris led the throws group with a third-place finish in the weight throw (14.21m). Sierra Davis placed fifth (13.66m) and Leah Delaney finished sixth (13.47m), showcasing the depth of West Liberty's throws unit. Davis also added a sixth-place finish in the shot put (10.98m).
In the pole vault, Alyssa Barker cleared 2.49 meters to finish seventh.
For the men, Dominick Gagum earned a third-place finish in the pole vault (3.93m), while Mason Fraley placed fourth in the weight throw (14.06m). Seth Wisman added another Top-10 effort with a seventh-place finish in the high jump (1.75m).
