Hilltoppers Set for Charleston Invitational at Berry Hills CC

9/8/2025 7:00:00 AM

West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's and women's golf teams are back in action Monday and Tuesday at the Charleston Invitational, hosted at the historic Berry Hills Country Club. The two-day, 36-hole event features one of the deepest early-season fields in the region.

Head coach Noah Seivertson leads the Hilltopper men into the tournament with a five-player lineup of Justin Doerr, Adam Gill, Brandon Lawhon, Ethan Cook, and Tyler Sauric. The group combines veteran leadership with young talent as WLU looks to build momentum from their performance at the Wheeling Invitational against a strong regional field.

On the women's side, head coach Freddie Fitzsimmons will send out a lineup of Sara Simon, Hannah Shepherd, Serenidy Wertz, Brooke Perri, and Reese Ward against a very talented field of teams.

The field includes more than a dozen programs, highlighted by host University of Charleston (WV), along with Gannon, Wheeling, Virginia State, Fairmont State, West Virginia State, Point Park, Glenville State, Winston-Salem State, Davis & Elkins, Virginia Union, Bluefield State, West Virginia Wesleyan, Fayetteville State, Livingstone, Concord, Wilmington (Del.), PennWest Clarion, and Hocking College.

Berry Hills CC, widely regarded as one of West Virginia's premier courses, offers a demanding layout with fast greens and narrow fairways that will test every part of the Hilltoppers' game.

Play begins Monday morning with 18 holes, followed by the final round on Tuesday.
