Hilltopper Golf Teams Open Season Thursday at Wheeling Invitational

9/3/2025 1:00:00 PM

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – A new era of West Liberty University golf begins this week as the Hilltoppers' men's and women's teams tee off their 2025 seasons at the two-day Wheeling Invitational, hosted at Belmont Hills Country Club in St. Clairsville, Ohio.

The tournament marks the debut of new head coaches Noah Seivertson (men's) and Freddie Fitzsimmons (women's), who will lead their squads into a competitive regional field on the par-72 championship course.

On the men's side, Seivertson's first lineup features Justin Doerr at the top spot, followed by Adam Gill, Brandon Lawhon, Ethan Cook, and Tyler Sauric. The Hilltoppers will look to establish early momentum in the fall campaign.

"We've had a good preseason and the guys are eager to compete," Seivertson said. "This event is always a great test, and I'm excited to see how we stack up."

For the women, Fitzsimmons has tabbed Sara Simon to lead the way, with Hannah Shepherd, Brooke Perri, Serenidy Wertz, and Reese Ward rounding out the lineup. Delaney Homer will also compete as an individual.

"This group has worked really hard, and I think we'll see that pay off," Fitzsimmons said. "Belmont Hills is a challenging course, but it's a good opportunity for us to set the tone for the season."

The Wheeling Invitational begins Thursday morning and concludes Friday, with team and individual champions crowned at the end of 36 holes.
