WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University baseball team will host Frostburg State for a four-game series on Monday and Tuesday at Weir High School. Doubleheaders are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on both days.
The Hilltoppers enter the series with a 15-14 overall record and a 7-5 mark in Mountain East Conference (MEC) play, looking to snap a three-game skid. Meanwhile, Frostburg State leads the MEC North Division with a 19-7 overall record and a 9-3 conference mark. The Bobcats come in riding a seven-game winning streak.
West Liberty is hitting .283 as a team this season. Leading the offensive charge is Will Balgo, who boasts a .362 batting average—15th in the MEC. Ryan Talbert is batting .327, while Adam Och sits right at the .300 mark. William Glick leads the team with 31 RBIs, ranking 7th in the conference. Talbert and Kobe Hill are tied for second on the team with 20 RBIs each.
On the mound, the Hilltoppers carry a team ERA of 6.68. Chase Lautner has posted a 3.90 ERA over 27.2 innings, with 19 strikeouts and 10 walks. Kristhopher Skeen leads the team with 27 strikeouts and, along with Jacob Watson, has notched a team-best three wins.
Frostburg State enters the series with a potent offense, ranking fourth in the MEC with a team batting average of .311. Jake Holler leads the way at .413—third in the conference—while Mikey Guy is close behind at .408, good for fourth in the MEC. On the mound, the Bobcats boast the conference's top team ERA at 3.63. Jack Ray leads the MEC with a 2.12 ERA, followed closely by Patrick Bauer at 2.40.
The Bobcats won all four meetings last season.
