WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's and women's track and field teams are back in action this Thursday as they travel to compete in the John Papa Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock University.
The Hilltoppers head into the meet with momentum following a standout performance at Mount Union. Junior sprinter Hunter Patterson broke school records in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, clocking impressive times of 10.42 seconds and 21.00 seconds, respectively.
On the women's side, Ky'Ara Ross delivered a strong showing, earning second place in the 100-meter dash (12.28), seventh in the 200-meter (25.80), and second in the long jump with a leap of 5.57 meters.
West Liberty also had several standout performances at the Bison Classic on Sunday, in the throwing events.
Mason Fraley turned in a dominant effort, capturing three event titles—Discus (39.07m), Hammer (42.46m), and Javelin (40.20m, personal record)—while also placing second in the Shot Put (12.73m).
Izack Messer also shined, winning the Shot Put (13.40m) and finishing runner-up in both the Discus (34.68m) and Hammer Throw (39.60m).
In the women's throws, Sierra Davis and Pam Kandrach led the way in the Discus, finishing first and second, respectively, with Davis winning the event at 40.35 meters. Kandrach claimed victory in the Shot Put (11.79m) and added a fourth-place finish in the Hammer Throw (41.90m). Davis followed closely with a fifth-place finish in the Hammer (40.54m) and was runner-up in the Shot Put.
