West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University baseball team is set to open its home schedule this weekend with back-to-back doubleheaders at Kovalick Field.
The Hilltoppers will host Davis & Elkins on Saturday, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m., followed by another 1 p.m. matchup on Sunday against West Virginia Wesleyan.
WLU enters the weekend riding a two-game win streak and has won seven of its last nine, including a dominant 15-9 victory at IUP on Tuesday. The Hilltoppers' offense exploded for 17 hits in that game, highlighted by a nine-run fifth inning. Of those 17 hits, eight went for extra bases.
Ryan Talbert leads the offensive charge with a .362 batting average, followed closely by Will Balgo at .342. Adam Och (.313), Jacob Sherman (.310), and William Glick (.300) round out the top five hitters, all batting .300 or better. As a team, the Hilltoppers are hitting .291.
Glick leads the team with 25 RBIs, while Talbert and Kobe Hill have each driven in 15 runs.
On the mound, Ethan Conley has been the workhorse early, leading the team with 22.1 innings pitched, while Kristopher Skeen has logged 21.2 innings.
