West Liberty Acrobatics and Tumbling Team Returns to Action Saturday

West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University acrobatics and tumbling team is set to return to competition this Saturday as they travel to Belmont Abbey College (4-2). The Hilltoppers look to carry forward their momentum following a commanding 241.275-218.780 victory over Trine University on February 28.

That victory marked a strong showing for West Liberty, improving their record to 2-3 on the season. The team set the tone early by securing the compulsory event with a 35.50-28.25 advantage, excelling particularly in the pyramid (9.55) and toss (9.60) heats.

The Hilltoppers continued their dominance in the pyramid event, with standout performances in the open heat (9.90) and synchronized heat (9.60), narrowly edging Trine 29.20-28.45 in the event. The toss event also showcased West Liberty's strength, with their 450 Salto heat (8.60) leading the effort.

In the tumbling event, West Liberty's athletes displayed skill and precision, highlighted by strong performances in the open pass (8.4) and aerial pass (8.225), contributing to a 45.375-43.400 edge over Trine. The team wrapped up the competition with a solid showing in the team event, scoring 79.35 out of a possible 96.05.

Two standout athletes from the meet were Abbey Horvath and Kayla Gandy. Horvath delivered an outstanding performance across multiple events, leading the charge in the compulsory, acro, and tumbling segments. Gandy shined particularly in the pyramid event, helping secure top scores for the Hilltoppers.
