Strong Second Half Propels No. 8 West Liberty Past Glenville State


West Liberty, W.Va. – The No. 8 West Liberty University men's basketball team used a dominant second half to surge past Glenville State, securing their 10th consecutive victory with a 106-89 win Wednesday night at the ASRC.

With the victory, the Hilltoppers improve to 22-3 overall and 16-3 in the Mountain East Conference, maintaining their hold on first place with three regular-season games remaining.

West Liberty trailed 47-44 at halftime despite a stellar first-half performance from Dante Spadafora, who tallied 17 points before the break.

Tied at 51 early in the second half, the Hilltoppers took control with a 19-9 run to build a 70-60 advantage. They never looked back, outscoring the Pioneers 62-42 after halftime.

Spadafora led all scorers with a career-high 29 points. Five other Hilltoppers reached double figures, with JJ Harper contributing 13, Lanyc Shuler adding 12, and Kyler D'Augustino, Garrison Kisner, and Daniel Autrey each chipping in 11.

West Liberty now turns its attention to a road matchup against Concord on Saturday at 4 p.m. The Mountain Lions claimed an 85-77 victory in the first meeting between the teams on Jan. 15.
