Athens, W.Va. – The No. 8 West Liberty University men's basketball team secured at least a share of the Mountain East Conference (MEC) regular season championship Saturday with a 102-85 victory over Concord at the Carter Center.
The win marked the Hilltoppers' 11th straight, improving their record to 23-3 overall and 17-2 in the MEC. This title adds to West Liberty's dominance in the conference, as they claim their eighth consecutive MEC regular season championship and their 11th in the 12-year history of the conference. Since their days in the WVIAC, the Hilltoppers have now won 15 of the last 16 regular-season titles.

West Liberty took control early, breaking a 7-7 tie with a 19-3 run to surge ahead 26-10. They carried a 55-42 lead into halftime.
Concord fought back in the second half, cutting the deficit to 69-63 at the 12:37 mark after a Ken Sallee three-pointer. Sallee struck again moments later, making it 72-66 with 12:08 remaining. However, the Hilltoppers responded with a 13-6 run, stretching their lead to 85-72 at the 8:17 mark. WLU would go up by as many as 21 points late in the game, securing the commanding victory.
