Charleston, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's basketball team struggled to overcome an early deficit, falling 70-54 to the University of Charleston in Mountain East Conference action on Saturday night.
Charleston came out strong, opening the game with a 14-0 run and leading 20-8 after the first quarter. The Hilltoppers showed resilience in the second quarter, edging UC 18-17, but still trailed 37-26 at halftime.
The Golden Eagles pulled away early in the third, starting the quarter on a 12-2 run to extend their lead to 20 points.

West Liberty struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 12.5% (3-for-24) from three-point range.
