WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — West Liberty opened Mountain East Conference play in dominant fashion Saturday night, rolling to a 104–71 victory over Point Park inside the ASRC. The Hilltoppers forced 32 turnovers—collecting 20 steals—and converted those miscues into 41 points, fueling an up-tempo attack that never let up. WLU also scored 60 points in the paint and received 48 points from its bench as it controlled the game wire to wire.
Terrance Pankey Jr. got the Hilltoppers started with an early layup, and the defensive pressure quickly took over. West Liberty forced 19 first-half turnovers, turning them into 14 fast-break points and numerous scoring opportunities. Xavier Harris slashed to the rim for several early baskets, while Landon Butler buried a 3-pointer at the 10:40 mark to extend the lead. Jamie Muldowney added a layup and a pair of free throws as the Hilltoppers surged ahead. By halftime, WLU held a 44–24 advantage.
The Hilltoppers carried that momentum into the second half, opening with a layup from Peter Lattos and a Muldowney 3-pointer to widen the gap. A steal and fast-break finish from Butler at 16:36 highlighted the continued defensive dominance. Aiden Davis then caught fire from deep, knocking down back-to-back triples to help West Liberty maintain full control. The Black and Gold outscored Point Park 60–47 after halftime to close out the 33-point win.
Muldowney led West Liberty with 21 points, shooting 7 of 10 from the field and 3 of 4 from three-point range. Pankey Jr. added 14 points, four assists, and three steals, while Butler delivered an efficient 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting. Harris reached double figures with 10 points and anchored the defense with a team-high five steals.
West Liberty continues Mountain East Conference play on Wednesday, traveling to Charleston for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
