West Liberty came out sharp, jumping to a quick 4–0 lead on a layup from Peter Lattos assisted by Jamie Muldowney just 55 seconds into the contest. The Hilltoppers followed with a 12–2 run, highlighted by a three-point play from Myles Montgomery at the 15:03 mark to push the lead to 12–5.
