YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The West Liberty University men's and women's track and field teams opened their 2025 indoor campaign on Friday with an impressive slate of early-season performances at the Youngstown State Icebreaker, highlighted by a school record in the women's 4x400-meter relay.
The Hilltoppers collected multiple Top-10 finishes across sprint, distance, and field events in a competitive meet that featured NCAA Division I, II, and III programs.
Women Set School Record in 4x400 Relay
The top moment of the day came from the women's 4x400 relay squad of Sasha Hunter, Lacey Dimit, Hannah Rowan, and Brookelyn Reynolds, who clocked 4:07.45, placing eighth and setting a new West Liberty school record.
In the field events, Ky'Ara Ross delivered a standout performance with a second-place finish in the women's long jump, leaping 5.87 meters to secure WLU's highest placement of the meet. Ava Hoffman added a Top-10 mark of her own, finishing sixth in the high jump at 1.44 meters.
On the track, distance standout Lacey Dimit doubled back from the relay to place sixth in the women's mile with a time of 5:23.68.
Men Put Together Strong Early Results
The Hilltopper men were equally sharp in their season debut.
In the field events, Isaah Beard earned a fifth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.82 meters, while in the high jump, WLU placed two athletes inside the Top 10 across divisions. Seth Wisman finished third in the unseeded section at 1.84 meters, and Ethan Furbee secured 10th in the seeded field at 1.89 meters.
On the track, sophomore sprinter Tristin Ohler opened his season with a strong fourth-place finish in the 200 meters, crossing in 21.96 seconds.
