West Chester, Pa. — West Liberty standouts Hunter Patterson and Grant Thompson were named to the Division II Commissioners' Association (CCA) All-Super Region I Second Team on Thursday, adding another major accolade to their standout 2025 seasons.
Patterson, a junior running back from Chester, W.Va., continues to build on an already decorated year after being named the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Year and a First-Team All-MEC selection last month.
He delivered one of the most explosive offensive seasons in West Liberty history. Patterson led the MEC in scoring (120 points, 12.0 ppg), rushing touchdowns (17), and total touchdowns (20). He also ranked second in the league in rushing yards (1,219) and rushing yards per game (121.9).
Patterson capped the year with a record-tying performance in the Hilltoppers' win over Wheeling, matching single-game program records with five rushing touchdowns and six total touchdowns.
His 17 rushing touchdowns this season rank third-most all-time at WLU, while his 1,219 rushing yards mark the fifth-highest single-season total in program history. He also climbed the career lists, finishing fourth all-time in rushing touchdowns and fifth all-time in total touchdowns as a Hilltopper.
Thompson, a sophomore defensive lineman from Akron, Ohio, adds regional recognition after earning First-Team All-MEC honors earlier this fall. He authored one of the most dominant defensive seasons in the conference, leading the MEC in tackles for loss (14), TFLs per game (1.27), sacks (6), forced fumbles (3), and fumble recoveries (2) — a rare statistical sweep that underscores his disruptive presence up front.
