West Liberty Set for Berg Holiday Duals Saturday at Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio — The West Liberty University women's wrestling team returns to the mat on Saturday as they travel to Heidelberg University for the annual Berg Holiday Duals, a full-day event featuring some of the region's toughest women's wrestling programs.

The Hilltoppers will compete in a five-round schedule against a field that includes Heidelberg (host), Alfred State, John Carroll, Lindsey Wilson, Otterbein, Point Park, Tiffin, and Trine—setting up a full slate of competitive matchups on Mats 11 and 12 throughout the day.

West Liberty enters the event with momentum after a 2–2 performance at the Gannon Duals, highlighted by dominant wins and multiple standout individual efforts.

The Hilltoppers opened the day with a 50–0 shutout of Waynesburg, stacking up six falls in the convincing win. Trinity Howard (117), Abigail Dicenzo (124), Cassia Zammit (131), Skyelar Smith (138), Isabella Kessey (180), and Jamie Shapton (207) all recorded first-period pins.

Against host Gannon, West Liberty picked up three individual wins—Howard (117), Khang (110), and Dicenzo (124)—but fell 30–14.

WLU battled nationally ranked No. 18 Lehigh, earning wins from Makyah Newlun (160) and Shapton (207), before closing the day in impressive fashion with a 31–14 victory over Otterbein. Howard picked up her third win of the day, while Khang, Zammit, O'Korn, Newlun, Kessey, and Shapton all delivered bonus-point victories.
