BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — West Liberty standout Dakoda Keni has been named the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, the league office announced Monday. It is the second time this season she has earned the honor, previously winning the award during the week of October 20.
Keni helped lead the Hilltoppers to a 2–0 week with steady, high-volume production as West Liberty closed the regular season and won the programs first north division title. Across the two matches, she totaled 16 kills, 96 assists, and 15 digs while directing an offense that out-hit both Frostburg State and Wheeling.
In Tuesday's sweep of Frostburg State, Keni posted 9 kills, 45 assists, 12 digs, and hit .333, controlling the match from the service line and setter position. She followed with 51 assists and 7 kills on the road at Wheeling, helping WLU complete an important late-season sweep and secure tournament momentum.
Through the week, Keni averaged 8.0 assists per set, hit .220, and added 6 blocks and 15 digs.
Keni also enters the MEC Tournament on the verge of a major career milestone. She is now just 37 assists shy of breaking the West Liberty career assists record of 2,555.
Keni and the Hilltoppers open the MEC Tournament Thursday at West Virginia Wesleyan against Concord at 2:30 p.m.
