BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Liberty University quarterback Antevious Jackson has been named the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week presented by The Health Plan, the league office announced Monday.
Jackson earned the honor after leading the Hilltoppers to one of the most dramatic victories in recent program history — a 47-41 win over West Virginia State on Saturday at West Family Stadium. The sophomore quarterback accounted for five total touchdowns and nearly 400 yards of total offense, capping the performance with a 40-yard game-winning touchdown pass to Osama Hurst as time expired.
Jackson completed 21-of-35 passes for 275 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 87 yards and a score. His dual-threat performance fueled a 26-point fourth quarter that lifted West Liberty to its first MEC win of the season.
He orchestrated scoring drives of 70, 75, and 80 yards in the final 10 minutes of play. His fourth-quarter touchdown passes to Levi Gullion, Hunter Patterson, and Hurst helped the Hilltoppers overcome multiple deficits down the stretch.
Jackson's recognition marks West Liberty's first MEC weekly honor of the 2025 season. He currently ranks among the conference leaders in total offense and passing touchdowns.
The Hilltoppers (1-5, 1-2 MEC) head into their bye week before returning to action Oct. 18 at West Virginia Wesleyan. West Liberty's next home game is set for Oct. 25 against Glenville State as part of Homecoming Weekend on the Hilltop.
