WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University football team wrapped up spring practice Friday evening with its annual spring game at West Family Stadium, giving fans their first look at the Hilltoppers under new head coach Chad Salisbury.
The contest featured an offense-versus-defense format, with the offense scoring in traditional fashion while the defense earned three points for a stop and four points for a turnover.
The defense set the tone early, jumping out to a 6-0 lead with back-to-back stops and extending the advantage to 9-3 after three stops on the game's first four drives.
The offense responded on its fifth possession, as Kohl Meisman connected with Levi Guillon for a 10-yard touchdown. Tuff McConahy added the extra point to give the offense its first lead at 10-9.
Momentum continued to swing toward the offense on the next drive. A 23-yard run by Anthony May set up a two-yard touchdown plunge by May, pushing the lead to 16-9.
During the two-minute drill segment, the offense advanced inside the 30-yard line before Demontay Johnson stepped in front of a pass for an interception, earning four points for the defense and trimming the margin to 16-13.
In the final drive of the evening, also under a two-minute format, McConahy found Guillon again—this time for a 31-yard touchdown—to seal a 22-13 victory for the offense.
The event drew a strong crowd, including members of the Bob Roe-era alumni, former Hilltoppers, and the 2026 recruiting class.
West Liberty will open the 2026 season against Walsh on the final weekend of August.
