West Liberty, W.Va. – The No. 14-ranked West Liberty men's basketball team put on an offensive showcase Wednesday night at the ASRC, rolling to a 118-76 victory over West Virginia State. The dominant performance secured a season sweep of the Yellow Jackets.
Explosive First Half
The Hilltoppers (16-3, 10-2 MEC) came out firing, pouring in 54 first-half points, fueled by eight three-pointers. They led by as many as 16, but West Virginia State (9-9, 6-6 MEC) managed to keep things within reach, trailing just 54-43 at halftime.
Second-Half Surge
Leading 66-55 early in the second half, West Liberty erased all doubt with a 14-1 run, surging to an 80-56 advantage with 10:16 left. From there, the Hilltoppers continued to pour it on, knocking down eight more three-pointers to finish with 16 for the game.
