West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's indoor track and field team heads to the Ashland Invitational on Saturday at the Niss Athletic Center, looking to build on their strong showing from last weekend's performance at Muskingum University.
The Hilltoppers were led by Ky'Ara Ross, who dominated the sprints. Ross claimed first place in the 60m dash with an impressive time of 7.80, while teammate Sierra Lanham finished seventh at 8.23. Ross also took second in the 200m dash, clocking 26.77, with Lanham finishing seventh again at 27.72.
In relay events, the 4x200m team of Ross, Lanham, Kaylee Davis, and Brookelyn Reynolds captured victory with a time of 1:51.42. The 4000m medley relay team secured third place with a time of 14:00.89, while the 4x400m relay team finished seventh in 4:30.30.
In distance events, Lacey Dimit delivered a strong fourth-place finish in the mile run, clocking 5:28.30, with Morgan Lesnansky finishing seventh at 5:40.15.
The Hilltoppers also shined in field events. Pamela Kandrach placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 12.15m, while Hailey Harris tied for fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.55m. In the weight throw, Haley Norris (13.89m) and Katie Hill (13.83m) claimed sixth and seventh, respectively, and Ava Cash placed seventh in the pole vault, clearing 2.75m.
With momentum from last weekend, the Hilltoppers look to make their mark at the Ashland Invitational. Competition begins at 10 a.m.
