West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's wrestling team had a stellar performance at the first-ever Hilltopper Women's Open on Sunday at the ASRC, with six wrestlers capturing individual championships in their respective weight classes.

• 103 lbs.: Jeulenea Khang defeated Kyleigh Honaker (Manchester) to claim the top spot.

• 124 lbs.: Redshirting junior Trinity Howard, competing unattached, earned first place with a win over Abby DiCenzo (Baldwin Wallace).

• 138 lbs.: Skyelar Smith captured her title by defeating McKinley Jovanovic.

• 145 lbs.: Grace O'Korn emerged victorious with a win over Kara Bebout.

• 180 lbs.: Janiya Brogan claimed first place with a victory over Gabby Kennedy (Baldwin Wallace).

• 207 lbs.: Jamie Shapton rounded out the champions with a decisive win over Mackenzie Weatherford (Manchester).

The Lady Hilltoppers also saw strong finishes from:

• Nila Bland (110 lbs.), runner-up

• Jillian Timberlake (131 lbs.), runner-up

• Issabella Kessey (160 lbs.), runner-up

The team now looks ahead to next weekend's King Open, hosted by King University in Bristol, Tenn., as they continue their season with momentum and high expectations.
