WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Head men's and women's cross country and track coach, Jason Falvo, has announced the 2024 Hilltopper cross country schedule on Wednesday afternoon. The upcoming fall slate will feature a quartet of regular season meets, including a home meet at the Bethany Cross Country Course to kick-off the year, prior to the conference and regional championships. A year ago, the men's and women's programs finished sixth and seventh respectively at the MEC Championships, and the men also went on to notch a top-10 finish in the Atlantic Regional Championships.
The 2024 schedule begins as West Liberty University hosts its first-ever meet in recent history, inviting teams to the West Liberty Invitational on September 5 at the Bethany Cross Country Course. The Hilltoppers will then return to Bethany once again a week and a half later to compete at the Bethany Bison Invitational on September 14.
The regular season for WLU ends with a pair of meets in Pennsylvania, competing at the Lock Haven Invitational on September 28 and the Doug Watts Open, hosted by Edinboro, on October 11. The Mountain East Conference Championships return to Wheeling's Oglebay Resort Crispin Golf Course for the seventh consecutive year on October 26.
The month of November features a second trip to the West Branch Cross Country Course in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, as the teams compete at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional and look to punch tickets to the NCAA Division II National Championships at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex in Sacramento, California, on November 23.
