Indianapolis, Ind. – The NCAA released their final award standings update leading up to each division's national championships on Wednesday morning, with West Liberty's
Ty McGeary remaining in the top-10 of two stat categories. The No. 1 ranked wrestler at 184 pounds in NCAA Division II remained second in the Most Dominant Wrestler Award standings while also ranking eighth among the nation's falls leaders.
Overall, McGeary improved to 29-0 this season after securing the NCAA Super Region 3 Championship in a 7-3 win by decision against the No. 2 wrestler in the country, Daniel Beemer of Ashland. He has posted a total of 21 bonus point victories with 11 wins by fall, six tech falls, and four major decisions. When breaking down the results against only DII opponents that will count towards the award standings, he is 25-0 with ten wins by fall, six tech falls, and three major decisions. The point system for the Most Dominant Wrestler Award is calculated by adding the total number of team points awarded through those match results and dividing the number by the total amount of matches wrestled. McGeary currently sits with an average of 5.04, while the NCAA Division II leader, Scott Joll of UNC Pembroke has an average of 5.48 and Isaiah Vance of Pitt-Johnstown is third with an average of 4.88.
