Hilltoppers Post 11 Career-Best Marks on Day One of Tim Weaver Invitational

West Liberty, W.Va. – The throwers and multi-event athletes kicked-off day one of the 3rd Annual Tim Weaver Invitational for the West Liberty University men's and women's track & field teams as the athletes combined for 11 new career-best marks on Friday afternoon. On the men's side Joshua Fancher led the way with a second place finish in the hammer throw while Haley Norris was third on the women's side of the competition. In the decathlon Jacob Huffman leads the way for WLU by sitting in sixth place while Zayne Brakeall is seventh in the heptathlon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • West Liberty saw five throwers advance to the finals of the hammer throw as Joshua Fancher finished second in the prelims with a career-best mark of 45.65m (149-09), John Brown was third with a mark of 41.45m (136-00), Mason Fraley was fourth with a career-best mark of 41.17m (135-01), Jordyn Dickerson was seventh with a mark of 37.49m (123-00), and Cody Bolyard was eighth with a career-best mark of 33.30m (109-03).
  • In the finals of the hammer throw Fancher was second with a mark of 44.06m (144-06), Brown was third with a mark of 42.07m (138-00), Fraley was fourth with a mark of 39.08m (128-02), Dickerson was sixth with a mark of 38.15m (125-02), and Bolyard was eighth with a mark of 33.04m (108-04).
  • Jacob Huffman ends day one sixth in the decathlon with 2,185 points, finishing fourth in the high jump with a career-best mark of 1.67m, fifth in the 100m dash with a time of 12.61, sixth in the long jump with a mark of 5.28m, eighth in the shot put with a mark of 7.13m, and eighth in the 400m dash with a time of 1:01.09.
  • Malachi Stewart ends day one seventh in the decathlon with 1,997 points, finishing fourth in the 400m dash with a career-best time of 58.51, seventh in the 100m dash with a career-best time of 12.68, seventh in the long jump with a career-best mark of 5.12m, seventh in the shot put with a mark of 7.35m, and eighth in the high jump with a mark of 1.34m.
  • Jonathan Stout ends day one eighth in the decathlon with 1,947 points, finishing fifth in the 400m dash with a time of 58.85, sixth in the shot put with a mark of 7.63m, seventh in the high jump with a mark of 1.40m, eighth in the 100m dash with a time of 12.96, and eighth in the long jump with a career-best mark of 4.87m.

  • West Liberty saw six throwers advance to the finals of the hammer throw as Haley Norris finished third in the prelims with a mark of 38.01 (124-08), Sierra Davis was fourth with a mark of 37.24m (122-02), Kaylee Savage was fifth with a mark of 34.55m (113-04), Catherine Neely was sixth with a career-best mark of 32.72m (107-04), Grace Brockmeier was seventh with a mark of 32.67m (107-02), and Leah Delaney was eighth with a career-best mark of 30.78 (101-00).
  • In the finals of the hammer throw Norris was third with a mark of 37.73m (123-09), Davis was fourth with a mark of 37.61m (123-04), Brockmeier was fifth with a mark of 32.89m (107-11), Savage was sixth with a mark of 32.53m (106-08), Delaney was seventh with another career-best mark of 31.46m (103-02), and Neely was eighth with a mark of 30.95m (101-06).
  • Zayne Brakeall ends day one seventh in the heptathlon with 2,283 points, finishing second in the shot put with a mark of 10.01m, eighth in the high jump with a career-best mark of 1.47m, eighth in the 200m dash with a time of 28.25, and 12th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.38.
UP NEXT
West Liberty will be in action on Saturday for day two of the Tim Weaver Invitational as the running events get underway at 9:45 a.m. and the field events begin at 10 a.m. at the West Family Athletics Complex.
