Hilltoppers Set to Face East Stroudsburg on Senior Day

West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University acrobatics & tumbling team will end the regular season by welcoming East Stroudsburg to the hilltop in non-conference action on Saturday, March 23. The home finale for the Hilltoppers against the Warriors is set for a 2 p.m. start time inside the ASRC.

MEET DETAILS WEST LIBERTY STORYLINES
  • West Liberty enters Saturday's meet with a 3-5 (2-3 MEC) record following a 269.575-256.135 loss at home to No. 6 Frostburg State on Thursday, March 14.
  • The Hilltoppers were tied for third with Glenville State in the MEC Preseason Acrobatics & Tumbling Coaches' Poll, accumulating 15 points in the vote. WLU is currently in fourth place in the league standings.
  • Through seven meets this year the Hilltoppers are averaging event scores of 36.286 in compulsory, 27.550 in acro, 28.129 in pyramid, 25.557 in toss, 50.746 in tumbling, 88.771 in the team event, and a total score of 257.039.
  • WLU has totaled 13 event wins in 42 opportunities through seven meets. Additionally, the Black & Gold have scored a 9.0 or higher in 65 of 133 heats.
  • West Liberty has broken school records in the compulsory pyramid (9.950), 7-element heat of acro (9.900), 450 Salto heat of toss (9.250), the quad pass of tumbling (8.400), and the team event (94.340). The Hilltoppers also tied the school record of the synchronized toss (8.800).
  • Kayla Gandy was named the MEC Acrobatics & Tumbling Athlete of the Week on Monday, February 19, after WLU posted a pair of wins over Notre Dame and West Virginia State in their home opener.
  • The Black & Gold return a trio of First Team All-MEC selections from 2023 in Gandy, Gillian Hartz, and Abbey Swinderman, while also returning Abbey Horvath who was a Second Team All-MEC selection.
  • Kelsey Kyle is in her fifth season as the head coach at West Liberty with a career record of 17-21 during her time with the Hilltoppers.
EAST STROUDSBURG STORYLINES
  • East Stroudsburg enters Saturday's meet with a 3-4 record following a pair of losses in a tri-meet against nationally ranked opponents, falling by a scores of 265.465-216.245 to No. 11 Mary Hardin-Baylor and 259.095-216.245 to No. 13 Augustana on Saturday, March 9.
  • Through five meets the Warriors are averaging event scores of 34.020 in compulsory, 24.500 in acro, 25.480 in pyramid, 24.088 in toss, 46.020 in tumbling, 80.884 in the team event, and a 234.992 overall score.
  • ESU has totaled 15 event wins in 30 opportunities through five meets. Additionally, they scored a 9.0 or higher in 20 of 95 heats.
  • Earlier this season East Stroudsburg put together a program-best 3-game win streak with victories over Georgian Court, East Texas Baptist, and Texas Lutheran. In the win over ETBU they notched a school record of 252.920 total points.
  • Kristina "Krikit" Gulics is in her third season as the head coach at East Stroudsburg with a career record of 8-15 during her time with the Warriors.

  • Saturday will be the first-ever match-up between West Liberty and East Stroudsburg in acrobatics & tumbling.
