Bethany, W.Va. – The West Liberty University track & field teams opened the outdoor season with the women bringing home sixth place with 51 points and the men seventh place with 54 points at the Bethany Invitational. Highlighting the day were 24 top-10 finishes including event wins by
Joshua Fancher in the shot put and
Morgan Lesnansky in the 10,000m run.

HOW IT HAPPENED – WLU MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
- Tavian Richardson and Francis Toohey posted times of 51.26 and 52.14 in the 400m dash for fourth and sixth place finishes.
- Mikhi Anderson recorded a second place finish and time of 14.73 in the 110m hurdles after posting the fastest prelim time of 15.45. George Donovic turned in a tenth place finish and a time of16.93 in the prelims of the event.
- Joshua Fancher won the shot put with a mark of 14.91m while Aidan Horan was the next highest finisher in 16th with a throw of 11.83m.
- Fancher also notched the best throw in the discus as he threw 41.42m to finish third in the event while Mason Fraley turned in a tenth place finish and mark of 35.93m.
- In the javelin Aidan Horan was the top finisher with a throw of 34.48m for tenth place while Jonathan Stout was next best in 13th with a mark of 25.90m.
- West Liberty finished first and second in the hammer throw as John Brown won the event with a throw of 47.33m while Joshua Fancher recorded a mark of 45.07m for second.
HOW IT HAPPENED – WLU WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
- Abbe Stackpole crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 13.14 in the 100m dash finals after the fifth fastest time of 13.15 in the prelims.
- Stackpole also turned in an eighth place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 27.49.
- Lacey Dimit posted a time of 1:04.92 for 12th place in the 400m dash.
- Morgan Lesnansky won the 10,000m race with a time of 41:12.08.
- The Hilltoppers notched a pair of top-10 finishes in the shot put as Sierra Davis and Kaylee Savage tied for eighth place with marks of 10.50.
- WLU earned a trio of top-5 results in the discus as Davis won the event with a throw of 42.69 while Kennedy Martin and Adriana Fazzini finished third and fourth respectively with marks of 40.11m and 39.77m.
- Zayne Brakeall turned in an 11th place finish and mark of 25.09m in the javelin.
- West Liberty earned six top-10 spots in the hammer throw, led by Savage with a mark of 36.73 for fifth.Â

West Liberty will be in action next Friday and Saturday, March 22-23, as they travel to Morgantown, West Virginia, for the Stan Romanoski Open.
