Patterson Highlights Hilltopper Performances at SPIRE Indoor Collegiate Games

Geneva, Ohio – After tying his school record time in the 60m dash earlier this season, Hunter Patterson was able to break the record today at the SPIRE Indoor Collegiate Games, highlighting nine top-10 finishes on the day for the West Liberty University track & field teams.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED – WLU MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
  • Joshua Fancher recorded a top-10 finish in the shot, finishing seventh with a mark of 15.15m (49' 8.5"). He was the second highest placer among DII athletes competing.
  • Daminn Cunningham finished just outside the top-10 in the long jump, notching 6.56m (21' 6.25") for 11th place, while Brijaun Baylor recorded a mark of 6.49m (21' 2.75") for 14th place.
  • In the weight throw Mason Fraley was the highest finishing Hilltopper, recording a mark of 12.41m (40' 9") for 26th place.
  • Mikhi Anderson and Ethan Furbee led a trio of Hilltoppers in the top-20 of the high jump, clearing 1.88m (6' 2") and 1.83m (6' 0") for 16th and 17th place, while Cunningham was 19th with a jump of 1.83m (6' 0").
  • Reese Burnside recorded a top-10 finish in the pole vault, finishing eighth with a mark of 4.40m (14' 5.25"). He was fourth among DII athletes competing.
  • Quinn Ashbrooke and Baylor led WLU in the triple jump, recording marks of 12.73m (41' 9.25") and 11.92m (39' 1.25") for 14th and 18th respectively. Ashbrooke's mark was a career-best.
  • Jasper Brown was the top finisher for WLU in the 5,000m run, clocking a career-best time of 16:29.74 for 40th place.
  • Anderson notched the second fastest time in the prelims of the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.18, and he then held steady in the finals with a time of 8.23. He was the top finisher among DII athletes.
  • Hunter Patterson recorded the top prelim time of 6.87 in the 60m dash, breaking his own school record in the event, and followed it with a second place time of 6.89 in the finals. Lorenzo Ferrera was third in the prelims with a time of 6.96 and then went on to finish fourth in the finals with a time of 6.93.
  • Philip White recorded a top-10 time in the mile run, crossing the line in a career-best time of 4:17.13 for eighth place.
  • Arthur Williams notched a top-20 finish in the 400m dash, finishing 18th with a season-best time of 50.91.
  • In the 800m run, Francis Toohey crossed the line with an indoor career-best time of 1:57.23 for a 23rd place finish, which was sixth among DII competitors. Tavian Richardson ran to a season-best time of 1:58.07 and a 29th place finish.
  • Patterson recorded his second top-5 finish of the day with a time of 21.94 for fourth place in the 200m dash while Ferrera notched his second top-10 finish of the day with a time of 22.37 for ninth place.
  • White and Robert Allen secured a pair of top-15 finishes in the 3,000m run with times of 8:47.02 and 8:49.45 for 12th and 14th place respectively. White's time was a season-best while Allen notched a career-best time.
  • The team of Richardson, Toohey, Williams, and Nathan Baker recorded a WLU season-best time of 3:26.30 for an eighth place finish in the 4x400 relay.
HOW IT HAPPENED – WLU WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
  • Leah Delaney and Grace Brockmeier were the highest finishing athletes in the weight throw for West Liberty, recording marks of 10.94m (35' 11") and 10.72m (35' 2") respectively for 48th and 49th.
  • Sierra Lanham recorded a 19th place finish in the long jump, notching a mark of 5.25m (17' 2.75").
  • Kennedy Martin finished 20th in the shot put, recording a mark of 12.03m (39' 5.5"). Kaylee Savage, who finished 37th in the event, recorded a season-best mark of 10.74m (35' 3").
  • In the 5,000m run Emma Flynn crossed the line 26th in a career-best time of 21:11.50.
  • Marissa Scott was the top finisher for WLU in the 60m hurdles recording a time of 9.59 for 33rd place. Hope Gestl also competed in the event, notching a career-best time of 10.07 for 47th place.
  • Ky'Ara Ross and Lanham were the top-2 finishers for WLU in the 60m dash, finishing 20th and 27th with times of 7.94 and 8.01. Ross's time set a new career-best.
  • In the mile run, Morgan Lesnansky notched a career-best time of 5:33.58 for 40th place.
  • Brookelyn Reynolds held the fastest time in the 400m dash, recording a time of 1:02.35 for 38th place.
  • In the 800m run, Lacey Dimit recorded a 24th place finish and career-best time of 2:24.74. She was ninth among DII competitors.
  • Lanham and Ross tallied 16th and 17th place finishes in the 200m dash, notching times of 26.13 and 26.14. Ross's time set a new career-best.
  • Ally Hicks posted a time of 11:44.80 in the 3,000m run for a 55th place finish.
UP NEXT
The West Liberty track & field teams will be back in action next week as they are set to compete at the Mountain East Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday (February 16-17). The action gets underway at 3 p.m. on Friday inside the Chris Cline Indoor Athletic Facility in Huntington, West Virginia, while the final day is set for an 11 a.m. start time on Saturday morning.
