Buckhannon, W.Va. - The No.4 West Liberty University men's basketball team improved to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the Mountain East Conference with aN 81-66 win over West Virginia Wesleyan Wednesday night at the Rockefeller Center.
The Toppers jumped out a 7-0 lead over the Bobcats, and kept a seven point advantage at the break 36-29.
A layup from Dante Spadafora with 10:49 remaining in the second half would put WLU up 16 at 60-44.
The Hilltoppers never trailed in the game but the Bobcats would pull to within eight at 69-61 with 6:38 remaining.
A quick 10-0 run capped by a three from JJ Harper pushed the Hilltoppers lead back out to 18 at 79-61 with 2:54 left.
Harper led the Toppers with 21 points, four rebounds and four steals. Lanyc Shuler added 13 points as the only other player in double-figures.
Up next the Hilltoppers return home to host Davis & Elkins Saturday at 4 p.m. at the ASRC.
